Movies I’ve Seen
2012
1. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan [Hindi] - a new favourite!
2. High Fidelity- not as good as the book
3. The Sound of Music- rewatched for the millionth time while on TV, still fantastic.
4. Rachel Getting Married- it was okay
5. Yes Man!-rather enjoyed it, a lot. loved the HP themed party. I may actually read the book, and hopefully the author experienced more awkward and negative scenarios than those in the movie. still, good movie
6. 21 Jump Street!-Monday of O-Week 20/02/2012 at the Roundhouse, with special appearance by Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. It was pretty exciting to watch it with a 1000 people 3 weeks before its official release and security checking our phones in and thing. I was actually pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it, would definitely recommend it for a good laugh.
7. Carnage- alright, not as great as I’d initially expected but nonetheless, a very different movie. short at 1hr something and funny in how it depicts these adults.
8. A Separation [Iranian]- Oscar winning Iranian movie. Fantastic! really intelligent, realistic, touching, layered, emotional etc. ALL the positive adjectives.
9. Elles [French]- at the Alliance Francaise Film Festival. interesting, graphic, slightly puzzling. nothing great though.
10. Like Crazy- really liked it, beautiful people/cinematography and music.
11. Kahaani [Hindi]- really enjoyed this as well, a brilliant and totally unexpected twist just boggles your mind
12. Hugo- beautiful, got a bit long in the middle but again, wonderful aesthetics and fantastic acting/make-up/ story.
13. Hunger Games- cinema over Easter break with friends. Good, Rue was adorable and lovely, the “behind the scenes” at the Capitol were a great touch, Haymitch was cool, Jennifer Lawrence is gorgeous and President Snow looks far too nice.
14. The Iron Lady- interesting and inspiring, and obviously Meryl Streep is fabulous!
15. The Art of Getting By- it was alright. nothing special, Emma Roberts is pretty.
16. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas- so terribly sad. a nice translation from book to movie. so strange seeing Lupin being evil, Vera Farmiga looks gorgeous. great acting by all.
17. New Year’s Eve- meh, nowhere near as watchable as Valentine’s Day. I pretty much forwarded through the dying dad plot. I guess Zac Efron was ok, but really nothing great. Abigail Breslin’s voice was annoying, such a long way from ‘Little Miss Sunshine’.
